International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is movement for women’s rights. After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, March 8 became a national holiday there.

In some countries a women day is a public holiday. I can definitely say in Moscow because I lived there. That day in Moscow flower shops are really busy. On the other hand in Spain women are protesting for their human rights. Personally I find that day as an opportunity not to go out and have fun but a day that I need to remind people but women rights are not equal worldwide. Did you know that women are not equal pay in many countries.

Women still are segregated into “pink-collar” jobs that affect their wages, according to an AAUW report. In Cyprus we celebrate it different. Women are going to enjoy their evening and their day.

Women are born to be mother and they are natural gifted by being multitasker regarding some researchers. Now a days women have their vision. Vision of having succesaful family, dreaming career and some of them to become leaders.

Personally I believe that gender doesn’t play an important role in our career and our sexual preferences. As citizens we need to know our rights and as women we need to be equal as men!
